A New Phase of Life Opens up an Adventure.

Over the past few month, many people have asked "Why Peace Corps?"

My memory is not the best but I remember the day a girl walked into one of my Engineering classes in Nedderman Hall at UTA. This was a very strange event that made me sit up straight from my slouched daydream. No one ever came into Nedderman that wasn't an engineering student let alone into an actual class in session. She quickly stated she was a past volunteer with Peace Corps and would be at TCU to share her experience. I grabbed my mechanical pencil (hey it was class) and wrote the information down. No one around me even sat up so I figured this was not of interest to the class. She left and class continued as normal. Personally, it became a priority to attend that meeting.

A few days later at TCU, I entered an almost empty room to listen as the girl shared her experience of a world across the sea.

"Wow this sounds like a great adventure that can allow me to give back," I thought. And I've been thinking that ever since.

That was 5 years ago and in less than 3 weeks we will be traveling to the island of Java in Indonesia to teach English and live life.

Paige (my wife) has been extremely supportive and excited about the upcoming opportunity. We can share later about how our joint decision to apply for Peace Corps happened.
